BOLA SURIANA
Bola Suriana is a traditional Mexican music group founded in late 1989 in Morelia, Michoacán, whose trajectory is distinguished by a deep commitment to cultural roots, historical memory and the dignification of the musical expressions of the Mexican people.
Since its inception, the group has worked with a clear mission: to preserve, interpret and disseminate the traditional musical genres of Mexico, particularly sones, corridos, pirekuas and popular songs from regions such as Tierra Caliente, Huasteca, Sotavento Veracruz and the P'urhépecha heartland of Michoacán.
Its name, Bola Suriana, is a tribute to the southern troops that accompanied Emiliano Zapata during the Mexican Revolution. This choice is not accidental: the group assumes from its art an aesthetic and ethical position deeply linked to the dignity of the peasants, to the voice of the indigenous peoples, and to the social and historical causes that have shaped the nation.

Throughout their history they have produced 23 thematic albums. Their discography gathers a valuable sound mosaic ranging from the popular rhythms of Mexico to the musical echoes of Latin America, from peasant struggle songs to popular festivals and the works of poets set to music.
His pedagogical approach is based on the belief that traditional music does not belong to the past, but to the collective present: it is a tool for identity, resistance and consciousness.
